PORT WASHINGTON, NY, January 9, 1997 -- TDK today announced it has joined as a sponsor of the FreeRide World Wide Web mass marketing program. The program, which rewards Web surfers with free Internet access when they purchase TDK products, is located at www.freeride.com.
When they visit the FreeRide Web site, Internet users immediately learn how they may enroll in the FreeRide program. Once they join, consumers begin collecting "points" for free access to the Internet by filling out on-line surveys, visiting sponsors' Web sites, or purchasing sponsor products. To receive points for retail purchases, members return proofs of purchase in pre-paid envelopes provided by FreeRide. Points for site visits, online purchases or survey responses are credited electronically to their accounts. When a member's points add up to a "free ride," they are sent a congratulatory e-mail and their Internet Service Provider is alerted to credit the member for a month of free Internet access.
Tim Sullivan, TDK VP of Marketing, noted that TDK's participation in the FreeRide program is a demonstration of the company's strong support for Web-based marketing activities. "FreeRide is a great way for us to help spread the TDK message among a growing number of Internet users,' noted Sullivan. "Not only is it an opportunity for us to advertise our high-quality media products to Web surfers and help drive sales, but because FreeRide actually guides users to our own TDK site, it's a terrific way for us to interact with our customers via the Web."
FreeRide members who choose to visit the TDK Web site (www.tdkonline ) will discover a true monthly on-line magazine, with information and features designed to appeal to a broad range of tastes and interests. Regular departments include CD reviews and upcoming CD release schedules, advice for home recordists, tips and tricks for making great home videos, plus insider news on the latest developments in multimedia data storage.
